Sympathy card wording

How to write Sympathy Card Wordings?

If a loved one or a beloved friend passes away – it can be a rough and uncertain time for the grievers. The denial of the situation, the grief of the loss, and the anger or hopeless emotions of a grieving person is confusing and depressing.  During these times, it is important to express sympathy. However, for many people, expressing sympathy is very difficult. It can be hard to figure out what the right words to say are but here are some tips to make that process easier.

Tip #1 – Think of a message. Does the message need to be short or does it need to be long? Do you want to say something personal or do you want to inspire hope in the grieving person? If you can think about all these things beforehand, then it will be easier to write the message, and it will flow much better. Some sympathy card wordings you can say are:

My (or Our) thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I can share your sorrow.

With my deepest sympathy.

By using such lines, you will be able to better show your sympathy and tenderness to the hurting person.

Tip #2 – In the event, you don’t like something so generic than you could use some verses from a poem or song, that will be helping you better express your feelings. Sometimes using a beloved song or poem will give the wording of your sympathy card a special meaning.

Tip #3 – Decide your relationship with the person that has experienced the loss. This is very important because if you are not a close friend or did not know the person who passed away – you need to understand what type of expression is appropriate. If you did not know the person who passed away then it would be better to say one of the following  wordings:

You have my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear mother.

You have my deepest sympathies on the death of your beloved.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss.

Please accept my sympathies in regard to the passing of your father.

This type of messages should be short, because since you did not know the person, it will be odd for anything more.

Tips #4 – Then again, if you did know the person who passed away, then some sympathy card wordings you can use are:

Bob will be sorely missed by us all.

I will miss Bob’s lovely warm smile and his kind words.

Jane was a dear friend, and she will always be kept closing in my heart.

Jane had a character that made me smile. She will be deeply missed.

By using these wordings of sympathy a person can better express their feelings for the hurting person or family. While it is difficult to create sympathy card wording , by following these general tips, anyone can create a sympathy card that will be acceptable and deeply appreciated by the person or family receiving it.
